Who Helps Our Town? Meet Your Leaders
When you got sick, who helped you feel better? Maybe a doctor. When the light turned green so cars could go, who made that light? Grown-ups called leaders help make our town work. Every town has helpers. Some put out fires. Some fix roads. And some make the rules that keep everyone safe and fair. Let's meet them!

Community Helpers
A firefighter puts out fires and helps people who are hurt. They wear big boots and ride a red truck. A teacher helps you read, count, and learn new things every day. A doctor and a nurse help you when you feel sick, so you get well again. A bus driver takes you to school and back home, safe and sound.
Community helpers work hard for us. The next time you see a firefighter, teacher, or bus driver, you can smile and say thank you!
What Is a Mayor?
A mayor is a leader for a whole town or city. The mayor helps decide things for everyone — like where to build a new park or how to keep the streets clean. People pick the mayor by voting. Voting means you pick who you want to be the leader. Everyone gets one turn to choose. The person most people pick becomes the leader!
Why We Have Rules
Leaders help make rules. Rules are not to be mean. Rules keep us safe and fair. A rule says cars stop at a red light. That keeps you safe when you cross the street. A rule says we take turns. That keeps things fair so everyone gets a turn. Good rules help everybody.
