What Is a Continent?
A continent is a very, very big piece of land. It is so big that many countries can fit on just one continent. Between the continents is water. The big waters are called oceans. So Earth is like puzzle pieces of land floating in blue water.
Meet the Seven
Here are all seven, and one fun fact each: 1. Asia is the biggest. The tallest mountain, Mount Everest, is here. 2. Africa has huge deserts and lions, giraffes, and elephants. 3. North America is where the United States is. 4. South America has the giant Amazon rainforest. 5. Antarctica is the coldest, covered in ice, with penguins! 6. Europe has many castles. 7. Australia has kangaroos that hop. Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, Australia. That is all seven!
Sing to a tune you know: 'Asia, Africa, and Europe, North and South America, Antarctica so icy cold, and sunny Australia!' Sing it three times and you will never forget the seven.

Make a Seven-Continent Map
Ask a grown-up to help you find a simple world map or globe. Point to each of the seven continents and say its name out loud. Then color a blank map: use green for land and blue for the oceans. Label as many continents as you can, and draw one animal on the continent where it lives (like a penguin on Antarctica). Show your map to someone and name all seven!
