What Is a Booboo? — Small Hurts

A BOOBOO is a small hurt on your body. A scraped knee. A small cut. A bumped elbow. A bug bite. Booboos happen to everyone — even the bravest grown-ups. Knowing what to do helps you take care of yourself and feel better fast.

Steps for a small cut or scrape. (1) TELL A GROWN-UP. They can help. (2) WASH the booboo gently with clean water and a tiny bit of soap. (3) PAT it dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. (4) Put a BANDAGE on it (a small sticky one). (5) If it really hurts, get a hug! Hugs are real medicine for booboos.

You scrape your knee at the park. What's the FIRST thing to do?

When to get more help. Most booboos heal on their own with cleaning and a bandage. But if a hurt is REALLY BIG, BLEEDING A LOT, or your skin looks REALLY swollen and red, a grown-up should call a doctor. Telling a grown-up ALWAYS is the safe choice — they'll know what to do.

🎯

Bandage Practice

With a grown-up's help, practice opening a bandage and putting it on a clean patch of your skin. Now you know how — so the next time you have a real booboo, you can help.

Booboos are a tiny part of being a kid. Knowing how to handle them gives you bravery — AND it helps you grow up to be a person who can help others when they're hurt.
