Imagine you have a treasure box full of your favorite toys. You would want a good lock on it, right? A password is like a secret key for the games and apps you use. A good password keeps YOUR stuff yours. A weak password is like a lock made of paper. Someone could break it and get in. Today you will learn how to make your secret key super strong.

Keep It Secret, Keep It Safe
The most important password rule is easy: never tell your password to anyone except a grown-up you trust, like a parent. Not your best friend. Not a stranger online. Not someone who says they work for the game. A real game or app will NEVER ask you for your password in a message. If someone asks, that is a red flag. Go tell a grown-up.
If a message pops up asking for your password to win a prize or free coins, do not type it! It is a trick. Real prizes never ask for your secret key.
What Makes a Password Strong?
A strong password is long and hard to guess. A weak password is short and easy, like 'cat' or '1234' or your own name. Bad guys guess those first! A strong password mixes things together: big letters, little letters, and numbers. Something like 'BlueTiger7Jump' is strong because it is long and silly. A fun trick is to pick three things you like and stick them together, like 'PizzaRocket9'.

A Different Key for Each Lock
Here is one more smart idea. It is best to use a DIFFERENT password for different games and apps. Why? If you used the same key for everything and someone found it, they could open ALL your boxes. But if each box has its own key, one lost key only opens one box. Grown-ups can use a special tool called a password manager to help remember them all.

Invent Your Super Key
Make up a strong pretend password (do not use a real one!). Pick two things you like and add a number, like 'Shark' plus 'Rocket' plus '4' to make 'SharkRocket4'. Say it out loud to a grown-up and tell them TWO reasons it is strong (it is long, and it has letters and a number). Then together, decide one place you should NEVER type your real password.
