Build a Cardboard Robot
Design a robot and plan its senses, movements, and brain.
Your mission
Design and build a cardboard robot, then plan how it would sense the world, move, and think.
What you'll need
- Cardboard, tape, and craft supplies
- Bottle caps, foil, or buttons for “sensors”
- Paper for planning
Your step-by-step plan
Give it a job
Decide what your robot does — a helper, an explorer, a pet.
Build the body
Construct your robot from cardboard and craft materials.
Add sensors
Add parts for sensing — eyes, ears, feelers — and label what each one senses.
Plan its brain
Write what your robot would do when each sensor notices something.
Make it yours
- Add a moving part like an arm or a wheel.
- Draw the path your robot would take through a room.
How you'll know you succeeded
- The robot has a clear job.
- Each sensor is labelled with what it senses.
- You planned how it reacts to its sensors.
