Honesty Is Part of Being a Good Creator
Honesty means telling the truth, even when it might feel a little uncomfortable. When you share something you made, people naturally wonder: How did you make that? How long did it take? What skills did you use? If an AI tool helped you write the words, draw the pictures, or write the code, that is an important part of the story. Telling people about it is honest. Hiding it on purpose is not. Here is something surprising: being honest about using AI does not make your work smaller. It actually shows maturity. It says, 'I know how to use modern tools, AND I know how to be truthful about it.' That is impressive!
Saying 'an AI helped me make this' is honest and brave. It does not erase your contribution — it shows you are a trustworthy creator.
Here is how you can tell people. It does not have to be complicated. For a school project you might say: 'I used an AI tool to help me write the first draft. Then I edited it and added my own ideas.' For a drawing you might say: 'I gave an AI instructions for this picture. I chose the style, the colors, and the subject.' For a game you might say: 'I designed the game and an AI helped me write some of the code. I tested it and fixed the bugs.' See? Simple, clear, and honest. You are still the creator — you are just being truthful about your tools.

Being honest about AI is a new skill that the world needs. Most grown-ups are still figuring it out! By learning it now, you are already ahead. Practice Your Honesty Note
- Think of a project you have made or might make someday — real or imaginary.
- Imagine an AI helped you with one part of it.
- On a piece of paper, write a short note (2-4 sentences) explaining what you did yourself and what the AI helped with.
- Use the words: 'I decided...' and 'The AI helped me...' and 'I also added...'
- Read your note out loud. Does it sound honest and proud? Good — that is exactly right.
