You Are the Boss of Your Idea
Imagine you just thought of something amazing. Maybe it is a game where frogs collect stars. Maybe it is a story about a dragon who loves pizza. That idea popped into your head because of YOU. Today we are going to talk about something really important: when you make something, YOU are the boss of it.
Your Idea Is Yours
An idea is a thought that only you can have in your special way. Two people might both think of a story about a dragon, but your dragon will be different from anyone else's dragon. That is because your experiences, your feelings, and your imagination shape every idea you have. When you use a tool to help you build something — like a computer program, an art app, or an AI helper — the idea still comes from you. The tool just helps you build it. Think of it like this: if you have a hammer and some wood, the hammer helps you build a birdhouse. But YOU decided to build a birdhouse. YOU chose where to put each nail. The hammer did not have a single idea.
The idea and the choices are always yours. Tools help you build, but they cannot dream up what to make. Only you can do that.
Here is a story about a girl named Mia. Mia wanted to make a digital card for her grandmother's birthday. She sat down, thought about what her grandma loves, and decided: yellow sunflowers, a bluebird, and the words 'You make everything sunny.' Mia used a computer program to help her draw the flowers and the bird. The program made it easier. But every single choice — the sunflowers, the bluebird, the words — came from Mia's heart. When grandma opened the card and smiled, that smile was for Mia. Because Mia was the boss of her idea.

Remember: every time you sit down to make something, the most important ingredient is already there inside you. Your curiosity, your feelings, and your choices are what turn a blank screen or a blank page into something real. Tools are helpers. You are the creator.
Next time you start a project, say out loud: 'This is MY idea.' It is a good reminder that you are in charge of the choices.
Mia used a computer program to help draw her grandmother's birthday card. Who came up with the idea for the card?
What does it mean to be the boss of your idea?
My Idea Belongs to Me!
- Get a piece of paper and something to draw or write with.
- Think of something you would love to make — a game, a story, a picture, anything!
- Write or draw your idea in the middle of the paper.
- Around it, write three choices YOU would make: one color, one character or thing, and one feeling you want people to have.
- Share your paper with a friend or family member and explain why those choices are yours.
- Notice: every single choice came from your own brain. That is what makes you the creator!
