When the Result Is Not What You Wanted
You wrote a really good description. You sent it to the AI helper. And then... the result is not what you imagined at all. The dragon in the picture is green when you wanted purple. The story went in a completely different direction. The game rules make no sense. Do not panic! This happens to everyone — beginners and experts alike. It is a totally normal part of working with AI helpers. And the good news is: there are simple things you can do to get back on track.
Why Does the AI Sometimes Miss the Mark?
An AI helper is very good, but it is not perfect. Sometimes it misses the mark because: The description was unclear. If you use a word that could mean more than one thing, the AI might pick the wrong meaning. 'A cool car' could mean a stylish car or a cold car! The AI filled in blanks. If you left out details, the AI guessed. Its guess might not match your idea. The AI made a mistake. Even with a perfect description, AI helpers sometimes get things wrong. It is just part of how they work. None of these things mean you failed. They mean you have information for your next prompt.
When the AI gets something wrong, that is actually useful information. It shows you exactly what detail you forgot to include — or what word you need to make clearer.
Here is how to handle a result that misses your idea: First, look at the result carefully. What did the AI get right? What did it get wrong? Second, figure out why it went wrong. Did you describe the color? The size? The feeling? If you forgot to mention something, there is your clue. Third, write a follow-up message. You can either fix your original description and send it again, or you can write a correction like: 'That is close, but please change the dragon to purple and make it look friendlier.' Fourth, check the new result. Did the change help? If yes, great! If not, try one more focused adjustment.
Match each problem to the best fix.

Sometimes after a few tries, the result is still not quite right. That is okay too. You have some choices: you can keep refining your description with more details, you can try describing the same idea in completely different words, or you can decide that what the AI made is good enough and use it as a starting point to change yourself. Remember: you are always in charge. The AI is your helper, not your boss. If the result is not working, you decide what to do next.
If the AI makes something that feels wrong or strange, do not just use it. You have the power to ask for changes, try again, or set it aside. Your judgment matters.

Fix-It Detective
- Write a deliberately vague description of something — for example: 'A nice thing outside.'
- Ask a family member or friend to draw what they imagine from your description.
- Look at their drawing. What did they draw that was different from what you had in mind?
- Now rewrite your description to be much more specific and clear.
- Ask the same person to draw again from your new description.
- Compare the two drawings. This is exactly what happens when you fix an unclear AI prompt!
